Taj Gir Lodge is 65 km from Junagadh railway station. The Lodge is situated at the edge of the world-renowned Gir forest, the only home of the Asiatic lion. The Gir National Park and Sanctuary, covers 1400 sq km of dry deciduous forest and tropical thorn forest, is home to the leopard, Jungle Cat, rusty spotted cat and Hyena. Among the prey species are the sambar, cheetal, four-horned antelope, Wild boar and hare, Gir is also a birdwatcher's paradise as it has more than 200 species of avi-fauna.
