Taj Hotels launch 'Taj Holidays' brand
Talking to newspersons on the eve of 'Travel Mart' at the Taj Residency Ummed, Taj Leisure division sales head Deepak Khullar said that it was observed during a survey that a sizeable number of guests preferred shorter holidays of 'two nights' stay. He said it was quite a significant change from the traditional concept of people preferring longer holidays of six to seven or even 15 days. Keeping this new found trend in view, he said, the Group has come out with special packages for such travellers under 'Advance Booking Offer' scheme, whereby advance booking of 30 days prior to the check-in date was needed for stay between May one and June 15. It offers 'fourth night' free on a 'three-night' stay at any Taj Leisure hotel in Goa and 'third night' free on a 'two-night' stay at all such hotels across the country (except Ooty and Coonoor). In addition, there was a 'Taj Summer Holiday' offer for its hotels in countries like Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles and Dubai, besides Taj Leisure hotels in Goa and Kerala. Khullar expected the shorter stay packages would substantially increase the room occupancy rate at these properties, especially during the lean season. He said the new brand of 'Taj Holidays' was created after an extensive consumer research with respondents, who had enjoyed five-star holiday during the previous year. Established in 1903, he said, 'Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces' has 56 hotels in 37 locations across India and 14 international hotels in eight countries under three categories of 'Business', 'Luxury' and 'Leisure' hotels. 'Taj Holidays' is the latest brand from the Group. Talking about 'Travel Mart' beginning, he said senior staff of different
'Taj Holiday' hotels would promote their respective destinations during
interaction with prospective travellers. Gujarat is a very big market
for the Group.
